Screamify has moved Birdnado, its avian-disaster horror feature, into active development, the studio confirmed this week. The film is now being produced in conjunction with ViperFX Studio, the first outside production credit Screamify has attached to the project since it surfaced publicly.

Birdnado was first put on the record on March 29, when Screamify posted a teaser on its blog introducing the concept — an unprecedented storm system composed of birds descending on an unsuspecting town. That teaser has run for roughly five months and accumulated more than 346,000 views on YouTube, a run Screamify cited this week as part of the rationale for advancing the project.

The studio's official synopsis describes Birdnado as "a horror event in which an unprecedented avian storm system descends on an unsuspecting town," with cast and crew still to be disclosed. Two shorter loglines are running alongside it on the film's press materials: "It was supposed to be migration season. Then the sky started to rotate." and "The sky is not safe."

The film has been certified SMP-2, Enhanced Practical, under the Synthetic Motion Picture Ratings System that Screamify adopted for its slate earlier this month. That tier allows 15 to 35 percent AI involvement, covering digital doubles and AI-generated environments, while requiring a live cast for the film's principal performances. For a premise centered on a physically impossible weather event, the rating signals where the production intends to draw its line between digital spectacle and practical performance.

Screamify has not named a director, writer, or any cast member, and has not detailed ViperFX Studio's specific production role beyond the joint credit. A representative for Screamify said further production details — including casting and a firm release date — will be announced as the project progresses. The studio's current materials list a 2027 release window.

The film is tracked publicly via its own Instagram account, @birdnadomovie. Press inquiries are directed to Screamify Media Relations at info@screamify.com.

Horror Dispatch will continue to follow Birdnado's development, including any casting or release-date announcements.
